BEATLES & BULLS COMBINE: RINGO KID “STARRS” IN ALL STAR QUALIFIER 9 (February 29, 2016 01:35:57 PM)

PHOENIX FIELD SET FOR THIRD SHOWCASE EVENT AT PBR’S BUILT FORD TOUGH SERIES THIS WEEKEND

ORCHARD, TX—One of the most exciting aspects of any sport’s competition season is watching the athletes (whether two– or four-legged) rise up and force everyone else to take notice of them.

As the ALL IN Player’s Championship enters the final stretch of events before the Mid-Summer Finale, Ringo Kid (owned by Jerry Halpain, as well as Martinelli/Thompson/Hanna/Long) established himself as a contender for the large jackpots at both that event and the Exclusive Genetics Million Dollar Bucking Bull Championship.

Competing in his first All Star Series event since January 9, Ringo Kid scored a career-high 87.50 points, winning the ALL IN Champions class at All Star Qualifier 9 on Saturday in Locust Grove, Oklahoma.  That same score also placed him second in the EG Champions class and seventh in the ABBI Mega Futurity event.  Combined, he earned $10,525 from just one buck!

All Star Qualifier 9 also served as the final of three events in which bulls attempted to earn a spot in the fourth All Star Showcase during the Phoenix PBR Built Ford Tough Series on March 5.  Based on their cumulative scores from Qualifiers 7-9, the five bulls headed west are:

¨ Dr. Dippin (owned by Gary Long & Leap of Faith Bucking Bulls)—261.00 points; Dr. Dippin will be making his second Showcase appearance, having placed third in Kansas City on February 20.

¨ Mr. Freeze (Conway Cattle Company & Kevin Buckley)—259.45 points; the Kansas City champion earned his third Showcase berth (also placed fourth in St. Louis on February 12).

¨ Satisfaction Guaranteed (Bob Whisnant/North-South Bucking Bulls/J.B. Mauney)—258.35 points; this is the only bull to qualify for all four Showcases: Oklahoma City champion (January 23), second in St. Louis, tied for second in Kansas City.

¨ Doc Holliday (McKenzie/Novak/Reimer/Whisnant)—257.15 points; Doc Holliday is making his second Showcase appearance after placing fourth in Oklahoma City.

¨ American Ride (Gary Long)—174.00 points; outside the top five of the standings before Locust Grove, American Ride scored 85.75 points to overtake Toto’s Moonshine (who scored a non-qualifying 71.25) for the final Showcase slot, narrowly edging him by 3.20 points.  This will be the bull’s first chance to buck in a Showcase.

In Phoenix, and at each of the All Star showcase events at BFTS competitions, there are no entry fees for the qualifying bulls—they buck...and win.
