Five Backseat Buckers ALL IN Bulls Buck Their Way to Oklahoma City (January 06, 2016 10:23:28 AM)

Coachella Monster Leads ALL IN Player’s Championship Field to Built Ford Tough Series Event

LAS VEGAS, NV—The 2016 season of the Backseat Buckers (BSB) ALL IN Player’s Championship kicked off with three events over the past eight days at the Horseman’s Park Arena, and five bulls gave their owners the Thrill of a Lifetime by qualifying to compete in the PBR’s Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) event on January 22, 2016, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The top-ranked bull after the three events is Coachella Monster (career earnings: $23,370), with 174.55 points in two qualifying bucks.  Owned by Bioko Buckers, Coachella Monster improved each competition.  After posting a non-qualifying 83 points on December 4, the bull recorded a score of 85.75 on December 8, and won today’s competition with 88.8 points.

Joining him on bullriding’s biggest stage will be:

¨ Satisfaction Guaranteed (owned by Bob Whisnant; 8th pick in BSB ALL IN draft; $4,387.50 career earnings)—another bull that bucked stronger each day, earning 174.2 points on two qualifying outs (Dec. 8 and 12).  He registered 81.4 points on December 4.

¨ Doc Holliday (owned by McKenzie/Novak/Reimer/Whisnant; 5th pick in BSB ALL IN draft; $106,975 career earnings)—after winning the prestigious Oklahoma Shootout last month, Doc Holliday continued to star in the Bucking Bull Games, winning the first All Star Qualifier with 86.8 points.  His 87 points today placed fourth.  He earned 173.8 qualifying points.

¨ Tap Out (owned by Don McKenzie; 1st pick in BSB ALL IN supplemental draft; $1,650 career earnings)—in his first competitions for his new owner, Tap Out—one of the largest bulls on the ALL IN circuit—enjoyed two very solid outs, earning sixth place with 85.2 on December 8, and fifth place today (86 points) for a qualifying total of 171.2 points.

¨ Mr. Allen (owned by Elite Buckin Bulls; 7th pick in BSB ALL IN draft; $12,525 career earnings)—after not competing in the first qualifier, Mr. Allen wowed the judges, sweeping the ALL IN, EG Champions, and EG Underdog classes with 90 points in All Star Qualifier No. 2.  He was the only bull to post a 90-point buck in the three events.  After a non-qualifying buck in Qualifier No. 3, Mr. Allen captured the final spot at Oklahoma City with 90 qualifying points.

Each of these bulls will buck during the PBR Built Ford Tough Series on January 22, in front of a (likely) sold-out Chesapeake Energy Arena, and all five will earn a check in addition to the prestige of competing in the same chutes as the rankest bulls in the world.

The 2016 regular season of the BSB ALL IN Player’s Championship features nine qualifying events, with each group of three (events 1-3, 4-6, and 7-9) leading to a different BFTS stop; events 4-6 will qualify bulls for Kansas City, Missouri (February 19-20, 2016), and events 7-9 will take bulls to Phoenix on March 4-5.

In order for a bull to earn points in the standings, he must receive a score of more than 84.00 points.  If he does, that score will equal the number of points applied to the standings.  After each set of three events, the bulls with the five-highest cumulative scores will advance to the bright lights and roaring crowds of the BFTS.
